Carlos Casteleira

Carlos Casteleira's work, punctuated by geo-photographic protocols, unfolds across territories and landscapes to renew a critical approach to ecology, biodiversity, socioeconomic and geopolitical balances. Through photography, cartography, and writing, he initiates a reflection on anthropocentrism, on the relationships between human beings, the environment, and territories. Carlos Casteleira is a doctoral student in Media Arts at the University of Beira Interior (dir. Francisco Tiago Paiva – Research Unit in Communication, Philosophy, and Humanities – Labcom) in co-direction with Anna Guilló from the University of Aix-Marseille (LESA – Laboratory for Studies in Arts Sciences). He conducts research within the scope of Projeto Entre Serras, a contemporary art network focusing on agriculture, biodiversity and rural word, which he iniciated in 2017. He is a photography professor at the Aix-en-Provence School of Art since 1995. Curator of the 2011 edition of the Cerveira Biennial, he has been invited to participate in subsequent editions. He has organized several projects in France, Brazil, Portugal and Spain. He is the artistic director of Projeto Entre Serras (Funded by Creative Europe programme from 2023 to 2026).
