LAETITIA MORAIS (Born in Paris, 1984. Based in Porto)Visual artist, researcher, and lecturer in Contemporary Art and Expanded Cinema at the School of Arts – Catholic University of Portugal (UCP).Her practice explores optical and cinematographic devices for their perceptual qualities, as well as social dynamics of resistance or transition. This research is presented through film, painting, and installation.Her work has been exhibited in numerous galleries and international events, including: MoTA Museum, Ljubljana; Rewire, The Hague; Elbphilharmonie, Hamburg; Störung, Barcelona; CYNETART, Dresden; Peacock Visual Arts, Aberdeen; Experimental Intermedia Foundation, New York; CIAJG International Arts Centre, Guimarães; Porto Municipal Gallery; Arquipélago Contemporary Arts Centre, Azores; NYU Arts Center, Abu Dhabi; Art Center OnGoing, Tokyo; Porta 33 Gallery, Madeira; and IRCAM Forum, New York.Her work is represented in public and private collections, notably: the Arquipélago Arts Centre Collection; the Porto Municipal Art Collection; Porta 33; Art Center OnGoing Tokyo; and CACE.She was a co-founder of the Laia cultural cooperative and the Torre experimental film laboratory. She also serves on international programming committees in the field of experimental cinema.
