His work as a photographer focuses on territory, landscape, expressions and transformations. Since 2000, he has worked on social communication, heritage and landscape. He participated in several books on architecture and landscape in the Portuguese territory: Azores Heritage Estate Inventory (Pico Island, 1999-2000; Corvo Island, 2001); Reading the Landscape: Tagus Territory (2019); Bigger Trip (2020); and Terra Mineral, Terra Vegetal (2023). He regularly participates, as a researcher, author, curator and editor, in conferences, exhibitions and publications on landscape survey and communication. He is the founder and Director of the Landscape Museum. Expert in Social Communication Sciences, João is a researcher and lecturer at the Faculty of Social Communication (ESCS-IPL), Lisbon.
