After training at the higher schools of Fine Arts in Mans and Nantes (France), Abraham Poincheval specialized in producing performances during which he performed in restricted spaces. Challenging the limits of human beings is the artist’s motivation. Poincheval has already spent a week inside a 20-ton rock and did the same on top of a 20-meter pole in the center of the French capital. With each art demonstration he does, Poincheval says he explores freedom and that “being an artist, despite not always being simple, means having a lot of freedom.” Poincheval says that “this freedom has a cost”, but that being an artist is also a place “where everything is possible”. Regarding the risk he takes in all the works he produces, Abraham Poincheval says that such risk is part of the work he likes to create, which he creates as a “game”, and that “a game is a risk”. Explore a world through the artist’s eyes, an inspiration that Poincheval says influences everything we know: Myths, stories and traditions.
