The “Iberian Cartographies” residency took place between 2023 and 2025 across several territories of the Iberian Central System Mountain Range, in Portugal and Spain. In Portugal, the residency developed in Serra do Açor, Serra da Gardunha, Serra da Estrela, Serra das Mesas, and Serra da Malcata. In Spain, it took place in Sierra de Gata, Sierra de Francia, Sierra de Béjar y Candelario, Sierra de Gredos, Sierra de Guadarrama, and Sierra de Ayllón.
This residency was designed to produce a portrait of the Iberian Central System Mountain Range through the eyes of artists from the three countries involved in PES_CE.
The residency was organised by Polytechnic University of Lisbon / Museu da Paisagem (Portugal) and facilitated by Gonzalo Barrientos and Carlos Barriga. The participating artists were Carlos Casteleira (France), Duarte Belo (Portugal), João Abreu (Portugal), and Lourdes Germain (Spain).
