Artistic Residency: Talking Stones

Activities

The “Talking Stones” residency took place in Sierra de San Pedro (Spain) in 2023, and later in Sierra de San Pedro (Spain) and Castelo Branco (Portugal) in 2024.

Andrés Talavero began by exploring the Malpartida region in Spain, and later moved to Castelo Branco, Portugal. There, he was joined by Léna Hiriarteborde and Fernando Mota to produce a multi-portrait of the landscape. Malpartida de Cáceres and Castelo Branco are urban areas located in plains surrounded by mountains.

The residency was organised by Ayuntamiento de Malpartida de Cáceres / CVP (Spain) and MVM (Spain). It was facilitated by Fábio Ramalho, Rafael Seguro, and Carlos Reis. The participating artists were Andrés Talavero (Spain), Léna Hiriarteborde (France), and Fernando Mota (Portugal).
