Workshop: Listening to the Landscape and the People exploring it

Activities

This workshop took place in 2024 on the River Tejo (Portugal).

Held aboard a boat, around the prominent geological formation of Portas de Ródão, this workshop explored the landscape through sound. Participants practised attentive listening and field recordings, approaching the river as a living, ever-changing organism, shaped also by human-induced changes along its margins.

Facilitators: Carlos Neto de Carvalho (geologist and scientific coordinator of the Naturtejo UNESCO Global Geopark), Ema Pires (anthropologist from Evora University).
Artists: Andrés Talavero, Fernando Mota, Léna Hiriartborde.
