Ce qui sera un point

As I cross different borders, I collect flat stones on which I inscribe the geographical coordinates of the place where they were found, before returning them to their original location. For those who encounter these stones, they may evoke cairns or mountain trail markers, prompting questions: do they signify a particular event, a symbolic site, or a buried memory?

This simple gesture questions the relationship between human borders and natural landscapes. By inscribing cartographic data onto mineral elements, I impose abstract social and legal conventions onto nature, while at the same time conferring a form of identity upon elements of the territory.

It is also an attempt to create a dialogue between two systems of law: the rigid, codified one of human borders, and the fluid, organic one of nature. In this way, the project explores how our symbolic frameworks are inscribed—or fail to be inscribed—into the physical world.
